Work From Home {Fabulously} Tip 19: Fresh Gratitudes

In Deena Kastor‘s deeply inspiring and uplifting book Let Your Mind Run, she tells about about her journey to becoming an Olympic Gold Medalist in long-distance running.

Her book is chock full of mental Jedi tricks to mastering our emotions, using them to ignite, enliven, and delight us in pursuit of our heart’s deepest desires.

One of her marathon running Jedi mind tricks I love best is challenging herself to journal FRESH gratitudes daily. It can become routine and dull to cultivate a sense of gratitude for the same general themes day after day. To tease apart the day, the moment, to discover things that delight at this very particular moment – these things are the stuff of life.

Right now I’m listening to a recording of Prince singing Purple Rain (the movie version) in all of it’s glorious beauty. I feel transported as I write and design the ebook that goes with this inaugural post series. I feel the power of creativity and discipline in motion. I’m deeply grateful for this very moment, this experience right now.

How to get started?

Notice the good in the world, the helpers.

There is a lot of scary, negative, and overwhelming information to take in regarding this pandemic.  There are also a ton of stories of people sacrificing, donating, and supporting one another in miraculous ways.  It is important to counter-balance the heavy information with the hopeful information.

What are you grateful for in this very moment? 💕
